She Saves Food Worth a Million – Every Month

Every week, pallets of fruit, canned goods, pizza bases, and gingerbread cookies arrive at Trinh Cash in Årsta, Sweden. Helen Trinh and her brother sort and distribute this food to soup kitchens, aid organizations, and associations.

So much food would otherwise go to waste, says Helen.

At Trinh Cash, Helen runs a wholesale business while saving surplus stock, near-expiry products, and donated items.

Sometimes it’s five pallets of canned food, sometimes fruits and vegetables. We take all we can, she explains.

The food, worth up to one million kronor monthly, is distributed by Helen and her brother two days a week or transported via trucks.

Our partners share it with families, elderly, and homeless people. It’s a network that’s grown naturally, says Helen.

From Waffles to Vegetables

The Årsta warehouse sees varied goods daily – waffles, canned goods, bread, or dozens of pallets of produce. Yet, one thing remains constant: nearly one million kronor in food is saved monthly.

ADFA’s Collaboration

ADFA values the Trinh family’s work, having distributed their food to smaller organizations aiding homeless people and struggling families. The partnership is deepening: ADFA refers food donors to Trinh Cash and helps place food with recipients, manage administration, and coordinate transport. So far, ADFA has facilitated 22 pallets of food, with more to come.
